9.1 Introduction to FTP

FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol. FTP is a method for transferring files from one computer to another, if they are connected to each other via a TCP/IP network. Using an FTP Client, you may connect to a remote computer on the internet and upload or download files. You may have an account on a remote FTP site, but more commonly, FTP is used with an "anonymous" connection, meaning that you dont need an account to log on to the site and download files. Several well known FTP sites are included with AmFTP for your use. You will soon find others that you use often and you can add these to the others.
